Marcel Desailly from Accra, Ghana played for a few clubs across Europe; Nantes, Marseille, Milan and Chelsea. The Ghana born midfielder represented France at international level making 116 appearances.
Desailly first picked up a trophy in 1992 (UEFA Champions League) just shortly after moving to Marseille. Although he won the Champions League he did not stay at the Olympique de Marseille long as he then moved across to Italy to play for AC Milan.
Yet again in his first season he picked up a winners medal, helping AC Milan win the Cup, scoring in the final itself. The French international stayed at Milan for a few years winning two league titles before moving to Stamford Bridge in 1998.
Marcel Desailly made 158 appearances for the Blues, captaining the side. Whilst at Chelsea, Desailly and Frank Leboeuf created a great bond and are still considered one of the best defensive partnerships in Chelsea's history.
Marcel Desailly is regarded as both a club legend and international legend, he was also named as one of the worlds greatest living players by Pele.
This shirt from the 1998-1999 Premier League season was signed in black pen on the back of Marcel Desailly's number 6 shirt.
